Crash and Down
Posted on 25th September, 2008
The title sounds like a post about an airplane accident but in this accident there was no airplane involved. As for the down part, you need to read on.
Yesterday at about 6:30pm at the Bukit Jalil LRT station, an LRT train from Sungai Besi decided that it was too tired to continue working and made a sudden stop 200 meters away from the station.
At the same time, another LRT train that was still enjoying the job came by and rammed into the train that stopped. As a result, apart from the usual, loud, crashing sound, 6 passengers were slightly (as claimed by the news) injured. No train driver was injured as this LRT train does not have any driver….
RapidKL, the train operator, said that they will bear all the medical costs (since only slight injuries involved) for the injured and the train resumes the operation today. The cause of the accident is still being investigated. Exhausted train has been ruled out as the possible cause…

At the same time, as announced yesterday, the fuel price has gone down by 10 sen today. The new price is now RM 2.45 for petrol and RM 2.40 for diesel. ( $1.00 is approximately RM 3.50 ).
Asked whether the Government would implement a free float system for fuel prices, Shahrir said it was too early to think of that although it was one of the matters discussed.
So folks, it is cheaper by 10 sen ...
Malaysia’s CPI
Posted on 24th September, 2008
This post is not about the Consumer Price Index although that would also make a good topic due to the increasing price of almost all of the things that we buy today but this post is about corruption perception index for Malaysia.
NST online reported today that Malaysia’s corruption perception index unchanged but our ranking has dropped from 43rd place to 47th place out of 180 countries. Maintaining the score of 5.1 achieved last year somehow does not put Malaysia on a better ranking. That can only mean some other countries out there have achieved a better score than us and that would also mean that they have managed to fight corruption better than us.
Despite the big hooha recently where lots of people being hauled by the ACA, things have not been improving as far as the perception index is concerned.
“What the latest findings show is that what the government has done so far to eradicate corruption has failed to make an impact,” Navaratnam told a press conference during which he released the results of the Transparency International’s survey on corruption. “People don’t believe any of these changes are real or meaningful.”
Let’s learn a bit about the CPI. The CPI currently rates 180 countries with a rating from 0 (highly corrupt) to 10 (clean). The cleanest countries in the world with a score of 9.3 are Denmark, New Zealand and Sweden. Our neighbor, Singapore scored 9.2 and that’s why they have moved far ahead of us in terms of almost everything while we are still busy with our political feuds…
The worst 3 countries in the survey were Haiti (1.4), Iraq ...
How They Landed Here?
Posted on 23rd September, 2008
Have you ever wondered how people came to your blog through search engines? Today, I have to satisfy that curiosity and went over to my cPanel Awstats to find out what people were searching for and eventually landed at Kisahberuang.com.
Firstly, I wanted to see what are the search engines that brought those visitors to this blog. I was expecting either Yahoo or Google to be on the top but I was mistaken. The top search engine that sent visitors to this blog is Live Search from Microsoft!
I have never heard of this search engine before until I checked the stats today. Google is on the second place followed by Yahoo. Have you used Live Search before or I am the only one on planet Earth who just found out about it?
Now, let’s look at the top 10 search keyphrases that brought the visitors here.
kisahberuang (30.7%), wonderful (3.1%), ramadhan comment codes (3.1%), blogroll (3.1%), google (2.3%), merdeka ke 51 (2.3%), salam ramadhan card (2.3%), promote (2.3%), kisah beruang (2.3%) and lastly, 31 merdeka-51 picture (1.5%)
As for the keywords, here are the top 25 search keywords for this blog listed in order;-

I am going to look at the lists again next month and see what would be the phrases and words that drive visitors to this site. Have you checked yours!
What to Write Today?
Posted on 22nd September, 2008
I was chatting with Lankapo about increasing visitors by writing something that is more “SEO friendly”… I think that was the word that he used… or was it something else but the main word was SEO. For those who are not familiar with SEO, it is something to do with search engines and if you want to know more, please go and ask Lankapo as the only few engines that I know are fire engines and my car’s engine that always ask me to feed him with gasoline…
Anyway, I told him, based on what I read the most popular word for search engine nowadays is something to do with mortgage and therefore, there is nothing for me to write about that. Even the word mortgage itself, I actually remembered it from my recent visit to Atniz. She talked about some key words such as mortgage refinancing, mortgage refinance rates, second mortgage rates and some other mortgage and rates related words. Definitely not something that I can blog about. The only thing that I know about mortgage is that if you don’t pay, the bank will chase you like a mad dog…
So, Lankapo told me that there are other topics that I can write about such technology or any computer related tips. I told him that may be I would give that a try and after sitting in front of my notebook for a couple of hours, I realized that I have no specific technology or computer tips to share. Definitely not especially when my daily dose of technological and computer tip stuffs come from Bioteck.Net. I do not think I want to just copy ...
How Many Arms Are There?
Posted on 21st September, 2008
Last Saturday I went to a workshop to inquire about the squeaking noises coming from the right rear side of my car. It sounded as if I had a bunch of mice or rats having a debate or a verbal fight at the back of my car. It was noisy and really irritating.
The mechanic at the workshop, without even making any effort to check out what was causing the noises told me that I had to replace the rear absorbers. He told me that it would cost me RM 250 to get the job done. I told him that I would come back at the end of the month when I have the money…
What I didn’t tell him was that I wanted to get a second opinion on the squeaks. I went to another workshop, which was a bit far from my house and this guy agreed to take a look at what was making the sounds before suggesting anything.
After a few minutes he called me to go under the car just below the right rear wheel and show me the source of my squeaking mice. There was no mouse after all. Instead, he push two piece of connected metals and I could hear both of them squeaked.
He then told me to replace the rear long arm and short arm for both rear wheels. He gave me the cost and seriously it would cost me an arm and a leg to get both side replaced. The cost would be around RM 400. I just sat there thinking while my mouth kept on asking about why those parts are expensive…
He then suggested that since the squeaking came only from the right side, I just need to replace that side first and only fix the other side later if it started to squeak as well. I agreed and I am RM 200 poorer that day.
After fixing the arms, he took the car for a test drive and came back saying that my mice had all gone away. As I was driving home, I started to hear squeaking noise from the same place again. ...

Rear Seat Belt
Posted on 18th September, 2008
I saw this new ads by Proton last night and I had a really good laugh. The message is simple but the delivery is simply hilarious. I know that many countries have made mandatory the wearing of rear seat belts a long time ago, Malaysia has only about to start. But then, it is better late than never. So, have fun watching the video and if the next time you are a back seat passenger of a car, make sure you buckle up your seat belt or you might end up like that funny ghost. The Hari Raya Aidil Fitri is coming and there is more reason to be extra careful when you are on the road. Buckle up and Drive safe!
Old School Tag
Posted on 18th September, 2008
I don’t usually do tags and under normal circumstances, I would tell the tagger that I don’t do tags. There is no specific reason for that but today I was tagged by Ellyda and strangely, I decided to do the tag. So, If your tag was declined, please do not get upset ya. May be one day, if you tagged me again, I might do it, just like this one.
Anyway, back to the old school tag. I guess those schooling days were the best days of my life. So, before my memory storage purge some of the old data, I might as well put it in this tag for others and most importantly for me to read when I can’t remember about it anymore. I’ll never know how much more data the memory space in my brain can store…
- 5 bad habits when you were in your school days;
- Made lots of noise while no teacher was not around or while waiting for a new subject to begin.
- Made fun of some nerds in class. One of them actually went bonkers!
- Marked my own home works - I ensured that I used the same brand of red pens used by my teachers.
- Either fell asleep or doodled while the teachers were teaching.
- Sat at the last row so that I could do many other things that were not as bored as the subjects being thought.
- 3 of your favorite subjects… Why?
- Physical Education (PE) - No other subjects let you run around like mad and not get punished for it.
- Chemistry - Exploded things were high on my list.
- Agama Islam (Islamic Study) - Where the Ustaz came to class with the stories about what he did with his wife the day ...
